The Order of FERT’s intent is to present an informal Achievement Award for Game Masters and Hero’s of Game Masters (such as convention organizers) in the same manner as in the bylaws of the HMGS Legion of Honor, with one FERT award presented (twice a year) at each of the two HMGS-South Conventions: RECON & HURRICON.
Awardees must pledge to:
- Wear & explain the award on their Convention Badge at all HMGS conventions.
- Uphold the honor and standards of the hobby of historical miniatures gaming (as interpreted by the honoree him or herself).
- Greet one another with the FERT “Secret Salute”. [The salute is secret, so they won’t tell us what it is! – Ed]
Order of FERT Mission: To Recognize Superior Achievement in Producing Historical Miniatures Gaming Events at HMGS-South HURRICON & RECON; Conventions in the State of Florida.
The Order of FERT was formed in 2014 by HMGS-South Chapter Game Masters who were also HMGS Legion of Honor award recipients attending HURRICON. These became the Charter Members of the Order
So what is a FERT? The FERT badge is a “Flaming Sword Emblem”. It comes from the former historical World War 1 and 2’s Italian Royal Army “Pioneer Assault Badge” (which is no longer in use). FERT is said to be latin and translates to either “effort and/or endurance” or “ouch”. It is unclear which is the definitive translation.
